Pennsylvania Railroad N5 Cabin Car
The N5 Cabin Car (caboose) was the most popular of the Pennsylvania Railroad fleet and the first all-steel cabin car used by any railroad. Built originally in 1914, more than six hundred N5 cabin cars were produced with many surviving into the 1960s.
Fine Art Models
Fine Art models has built the N5 in its original 1914–1938 configuration. Some of the features of this 100-piece limited edition are individual road numbers, all-brass construction with real wood deck, trucks with functional leaf springs and working brakes, opening journal box covers, complete interior lighting and detail with operating doors and glass windows, removable working marker lights and a flag box with five flags. In addition, the N5 has a removable roof with complete working interior, including folding bunks, a coffee pot with two mugs and a pin-up calendar on the wall.
The Pennsylvania later produced a total of 199 N5c Cabin Cars. We have recreated each one of these with its correct road number and even coal in the stove coal bunker inside. Each model comes with a book on the history of the cabin car.
