MOTORCYCLE MODEL DEVELOPMENT
The rebirth of the Italian motorcycle industry began with the Milan Motorcycle Show in November of 1965. While many new products were presented, the most sensational of all was the MV 600 four. At last, enthusiasts were able to buy a bike that was unlike anything else in the marketplace, and one closely related to the most famous racing machines of the day: the same machines the likes of Surtees, Hailwood and Agostini had been riding to victory for years.
The 600 four was presented as a touring bike and, as a result, was not a complete success. In November, 1969 the 750S appeared with four silencers and cost 1,980,000 lire, the most expensive bike of its time. Very limited numbers of the 750S were produced up until 1980 when MV finally went out of production. Today the MV fours from this period have become one of the most sought-after and expensive collector’s bikes in the world.
The 750S Model
Using a completely original 1:1 750S bike from our collection, Fine Art Models is proud to present the Limited Edition MV 750S, all metal, 1:5 scale model built in the same spirit as the original bike itself. With over 300 man-hours to hand build each model, it is currently considered the finest motorcycle model ever produced. Features include:
- Working front and rear brakes
- Working front and rear suspension
- Working throttle and carburetor linkage
- Real wire wheels and rubber tires
- Sand cast engine, just like the real engine
- Opening gas cap
- Unique serial number on the frame
- Unique serial number on the engine
Each model, 16.5” L (420m) x 4.3” H (110mm) x 8.25” W (210mm) and weighing 7 pounds (3 kilograms), comes in its own wood “factory” crate, just as the real bike did, complete with its own unique serial number. In addition, for those ordering the motorcycle, a spare 750S engine on a display stand (5.1” L (130mm) X 3.5” W (90mm) X 5.1” H (130mm)) will also be available.
Limited to 50 pieces each, the price of the 750S Motorcycle is $6,500.00 and the separate engine is $2,500. Reservations are now being taken, with delivery currently scheduled for late 2013/2014.
When we have the bike ready for final assembly, we will require a $2,000 deposit from those with reservations. For those of you with a 1:1 MV 750S, we are happy to build your model using your own serial number.
